Saramsa Garden is about 14 kilometers from Gangtok, 2 kilometers from Ranipool town, on the way to Pakyong. It is a recreational public garden where the local people come during holidays and weekends for picnic. The Saramsa Garden is also known as Ipecac Garden and very popular for the wide range of orchid species that blossom there. The garden was set up and preserved by the Forests, Environment & Wildlife Management Department, Government of Sikkim to display wide varieties of orchids and medicinal plants that are found in Sikkim.
Located about 14 km from Gangtok is the Saramsa Garden. Established and maintained by the Department of Forests and Tourism, it is an excellent recreation, leisure and picnic spot. A musical fountain and a swimming pool are the recent additions. The Garden is a popular venue for the International Flower Shows.
