About a kilometer from the town of Namchi, Serdup Choling monastery is located against a beautiful backdrop, a locale presenting a magnificent view of Mt. Khangchendzonga. The monastery is fortified with the monk’s quarter and the three beautiful statues of Santa Raksita, Guru Rimpoche and Tri Detson are installed in the main temple shrine. They are popularly known as Khen Lob Chok Sum, Khen refers to Santa Raksita, Lob refers to Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Lamaism, and Chok refers to Chogyal (king), the patron of Tibetan Buddhism.
The monastery is adorned with some beautiful wall paintings of Guru Padmasambhava and the exterior potion being adorned with prayer flags. Especially in the morning you can hear the monks chant prayers in harmony.
